Preliminary Posting for Superintendent
The Potterville Public Schools Board of Education is seeking a qualified Superintendent of Schools to lead the District into the future.
Potterville Public School District is located in Potterville, Michigan. The District is a combination of delightful neighborhoods, semi-rural properties, and a quaint small town. The District is a few miles southwest of Lansing in Eaton County. It is conveniently located off I-69 near the State Capitol Complex. Michigan State University, Lansing Community College, hotels, hospitals, restaurants, night life, shopping, and recreation in the greater Lansing area are within minutes of Potterville. It is also near Cooley Law School Stadium, home of the Lansing Lugnuts, which is an affiliate of the American League Toronto Blue Jays.
The elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as all athletic fields and playgrounds, are on the campus which is surrounded by a friendly neighborhood. The administration building which houses child care, adult education, central administration, and meeting and conference rooms is located on campus as well.
The central administrative staff consists of the superintendent, business manager, and administrative assistant located in the administration building. Each of the three schools has a principal and administrative assistant. The instructional staff includes fifty-five dedicated teachers and the non-instructional staff includes forty-five hard-working para-professionals.
Potterville Public Schools offers a full K-12 curriculum including fine arts and physical education, which is supported by extensive classroom and building technology. The District also offers to those students who qualify full special education services. The innovative Student Support Network program provides counseling, social work, and other emotional and physical support to students.
The District’s annual budget is approximately nine million dollars. The most recent audited fund balance was 6.8%. There is a sinking fund, which supports infrastructure improvements across all of the schools and administration building. Dean Transportation provides general and extra transportation under contract through the 2019-20 school year. Special education transportation is provided through the Eaton Regional Education Service Agency.
The seven-member Potterville Public Schools Board of Education serve four-year terms. Members average about three years of service on the Board. Board meetings are the first and third Monday of the month. The first meeting is a work session the board uses for professional development or to discuss District topics. The second meeting is the regular meeting and includes special reports, items for action, discussion, or information, and the superintendent’s report.
